Earl
If you have had a Mexican-plated car (purchased new in Mexico) in the US for 10 years and would like to bring it back, do you have to pay all those back years of placas and registration? If so, any idea how much that would be for a Ford KA? I'm asking for a friend.
sparks
If made in Mexico you may have more problems with safety regulations
Mostlylost
Sparks why would a Ford Ka made in Mexico 10 years ago have a safety problem in Mexico now? I see lots of those on the roads in Jalisco.
Sonia
I believe this is your answer. Typically you pay past tenencia which still exits in some states and ended in many after 2011; past emissions test; annual fees. Neighbor's car an old CR-V, from Mexico City after paying nothing for 3 years and went to register in GTO state paid 13,000 pesos. If registering in a different state than where registered 10 years an inspection is required. You should have original factura when bought new and tarjeta de ciculacion. There are no safety issues. good luck Sonia
