Mainecoons
Well, tried a very light cooking of some of the stuff and left it out separate for him. No go, absolutely no interest in it at all even in tiny portions and mixed with the stuff he loves. Before we tried this, we offered him some samples of raw meat and fish and he didn't go for any of it. That should have been a tip off. Not sure what I'm going to try next. About the only strategy left is to put a small portion on a plate next to his preferred every day and see if some interest comes up. I may also try getting a sample from a different supplier and see if that is the problem. Maybe he just doesn't like the preparation. I'm beginning to understand why he doesn't hunt birds. He's so damned spoiled he doesn't like the taste and hunting is too much work anyway.
Zeb
If you give him a choice, he will always pick his preferred food. That will not work. Have you tried what I recommended earlier? Mix some with his regular food. If he does not eat, pick it up and he skips a meal. Do the same again for a couple of days. You may also be having trouble with this method is your head. He will not starve. This is what is takes. Sometimes the cat owner's fear is worse than the cat's will power.
Yo1
Cat are tremendously stubborn but they will not stave themselves to death. Dogs are much easier; I had a sister-in-law who fed her picky poodle cooked hamburger or cooked liver since he would eat nothing else. He had her trained very well. Mainecoons
I did try mixing it with his favorite food. He threw the meal up almost immediately. I've never seen him do this with any other food. This is not a real picky cat. There are a lot of things he likes. He doesn't like this raw stuff, even when cooked a little. My plan now is to find the raw food lady at the Tuesday market and try a sample of her stuff. Maybe he just doesn't like the recipe. I wouldn't want someone to starve me to force me to eat something I hate and I'm not doing that to our cat either.

If he likes fish oil, break open a capsule and place in on the food and see that interests him.
Mainecoons
Just an update on this, per the recommendation of Jeffrey who prepared the food, I opened a different package and mixed a VERY small amount of it this morning with his regular food. Once again, he threw his entire breakfast up. Next idea is to try and find healthier canned food for him. This clearly doesn't work.
Zeb
The throwing up part would concern me. Once you find a better canned food, you could try again, but not a raw formula this time, maybe just a small piece of raw chicken as a snack and see if he is tempted.
