US 800 numbers

Anyone know the number to substitute for US toll free number 844 so I call from here?

The numbers they provide work but your call will be intercepted by a recording that advises long distance charges will apply; it gives you the option of going ahead or hanging up.  So if all you have is a 1-800 series number then this is the only way to reach it from Mexico.  You can try a VOIP service such as Vonage, Ooma or MagicJack but recently I have been told by the person I am calling that they are having difficulty hearing me as the line is  breaking up.  I can hear them fine so the issue is with the upload speed of the internet connection.  An alternative is to see if you can find a regular number to call; calls to Canada and the US  from Mexico are free.

Note that long distance calls to US & Canada are toll free EXCEPT for the above "toll free" numbers!!!

You will pay handsomely if you use them!!

Better to find the local number when possible and call it free!!

Thanks for the web site, but I already have those substitutes.  The 844 is a new toll free and not listed on the site.

When we were down there, I just used Skype to call 1-800 numbers. No problems sorting out banking and other issues back home.
