Sonia
Permiso Para Trabajar This is the process in Guanajuato state and likely similar throughout Mexico as INM and SAT gain sophistication and computer system ties. When one is a Temporary Resident and wishes to earn income in Mexico including as a landlord they must apply for Permiso Para Trabajar. First one starts registration with SAT for taxation, then apply at INM for permission to earn income and once that is issued applicant completes process at SAT. INM process is similar to a visa renewal with on-line form, photos, payment, finger prints etc. Expiration date on your new Permiso Para Trabajar will be same as that on your TR visa which you turned in to INM. And, the checking done by INM will be the same as that listed below for a PR. If you are a Permanent Resident who wishes to earn income in Mexico you must inform INM in writing. INM will want your SAT cedula which is the square scanner code along with the letter from SAT indicating what you will be doing called Acuse Unico De Inscripcion Al Registro Federal De Contribuyentes. Normally, INM checks electronically with SAT as to your status to ensure you are registered to pay taxes and if your listed duties with SAT are the same as the duties you reported to INM. Do not assume by informing INM as a Permanent Resident you will be earning income you will not be investigated and you can be denied the right to work. saludos Sonia
