gwynne
I need help! For the last several months my computer has frequently been unusable because of unwanted pop-up ads. I took it back to where I bought it twice. Each time, it was "fixed" for a few days and then the ads were back. I've had a tech working long distance for several months now. He's installed every kind of antivirus known but nothing seems to work. Even Chapala.com is affected. Every time I try to read a topic, I get an ad for Movie star or cheap airline tickets. The computer with problems is a one-year-old Dell laptop purchased here. My husband uses an older desktop purchased in Canada and has not had any problems. My tablet (working on now) has no problems. Has anyone else been infected like this? Any ideas what to do?
dgn
Probably the best (and certainly the cheapest) is to back up your essential files and then restore to factory settings. This will wipe out any virus. You can then treat the comp as if you'd just bought it.
