Seaesta
I have a Casa that has a fireplace that has gas run to it. The old gas logs wore out. I am looking to buy new or used logs to use. Any ideas and cost of logs? If you have logs for sale, please PM me. Thanks
JRPJR
I believe there is a store in west Ajijic across from Roberto's that sells gas grills and fireplace inserts.....
chapala45900
Techno Agua in the la Huerta Plaza west of Ajijic has some too. The plaza is on the left past Villa Nova.
El Cartero
Looking foward to what you find out. I needed replacement logs a year or two ago and found none to be had. Now liiking for the gas log insert with front controls and can't find those either. For the replacement logs I had to bring them from the US. sm1mex
We bought ventless gas logs from Strom White many years ago. They are expensive down here because of duty and 16% IVA tax. They were around 1200 U.S. We don't use them too often, but when it is cold they do the job. They will raise the temp of a room about 7-8 degrees in about 15-20 minutes on low burner. However, ours are ventless and our chimney is blocked off so all of the heat comes directly into the house. If you have a chimney and you buy vented logs, they will probably be less expensive, but most of the heat will go up the chimney and you won't get much heat. If you are serious about having gas logs, block off your chimney and buy ventless. In the US they are around 600 dollars so if you have a buddy that can bring them down, it will save you a bundle. Don't get fiber logs, they deteriorate. Buy ceramic. They are more expensive but last a life time.
bradshoe
Ours was exactly the same experience as The traveler. Techno Agua could get the exact same ventless log set we wanted through Mexico city for a little over $1100USD and we had one brought down for $600USD. Totally saved our chilly buns last winter. El Saltos
A bargain if they're good ones and vent-free.
tomgates
We got ours from Techno Agua and they are Fire Magic brand, and are ventless and remote control. This was 3-4 years ago.
