pennwarr
I am getting ready to move to Ajijic with my cat. I have the paperwork ready, but I think I read somewhere that you need to take it to the USDA. Does anyone have info on this?
JayBearII
What you need is a doctor's certification that the cat has all shots, etc., and there are time limits on this. I am sure someone more currently knowledgeable will post on this. Are you driving or flying?
pennwarr
I'm flying. She's had all the shots recently, and I have an appointment shortly before I leave so they can sign off on all the certificates within the 10 days of arriving. Hearing about the USDA is worrying me though.
GeorgiaPeach
When we moved here over 8 years ago we had our vet contact The USDA/APHIS - he was sent the forms needed for our cats - we wanted to be sure that all was in order just in case. We had one person look at our paperwork but he seemed more interested in petting one of our cats. It's better to have the proper paperwork to avoid any problems. Their site is; http://www.aphis.usda.gov/wps/portal/aphis/ourfocus/importexport/sa_animals/sa_pet_travel
bdlngton
There is some international health certificate that your vet should fill out. Having your vet contact USDA/APHIS about this is a good idea.
