pappysmarket
For us, Mi Tierra for breakfast is a don't miss. http://www.mitierracafe.com/about_history.html
ibbocat
If you like Indian food try the Bombay Hall. A constant supply of nan bread straight out of the oven. http://www.bombayhall.com/menu.htm
congodog
I second Mi Tierra for breakfast. In fact, when we went to San Antonio, we stayed nearby precisely so we could go there for breakfast. I've never had dinner there, but I hear it is good as well.
jrod
For dinner, we love any of the Paesano's restaurant locations (including the Riverwalk and at the Quarry) are lovely. The shrimp paesano is fabulous. Menu and locations below. http://paesanositalianrestaurant.com/menus/ Also El Jarro de Arturo on San Pedro (not too far from the airport, in a strip center) has really good and very popular/busy Tex-Mex and a lady hand-makes appetizer tortillas for you. It used to be our Friday night go-to until we moved away. http://www.eljarro.com

pappysmarket
Checked out the site. Rather pricey IMO. $27.95 for HUEVOS RANCHERS? Which site are you referring to? BTW it's RANCHEROS, not the actual rancher himself
gringohombre
Who cares about the food in San Antonio, Texas? I live in San Antonio Tlayacapan and can tell you about the food here starting with Adelitas, Marios, a couple of cenadurias, Sn. Taco on the corner of the Plaza and now a kind or Restaurant Row that has sprung up in the past few years on the main drag between Walmart and the Corona facility. I have been to San Antonio, TX and love it but when think San Antonio now, I think Tlayacapan. Gracias.

BTW it's RANCHEROS, not the actual rancher himself At least it didn't say huevos de los rancheros, or a lot of rancheros would be running for cover,

ComputerGuy
A Huevo! Perhaps safer to order blanquillos...
tomgates
Second Mi Tierra and LuLu's. Also try Esquire Tavern. Chicken fried steak at LuLu's, don't go for the large as it is 1/2" thick and fills a 9 inch plate! And if some lookers want some upscale ideas, three would be Biga on the Banks, Bohannan's Steak House and Luke, all on Houston Street downtown. holdrja
I spent 8 months in San Antonio recently, mostly cooked at home but we found some great lower cost dining experiences during Happy Hour. These first two are up near the Medical Center / USAA: Sushi, appetizers and I love the sake apple-tinis: http://www.fujiyajapanesegardens.mcjr.net/ Chinese/ Japanese http://www.mjchinabistro.com/ordereze/Content/3/Summary.aspx For a lovely, not-exorbitantly-expensive Riverwalk meal, try the Happy Hour at Luke's http://www.saflavor.com/happy-hour-at-luke-on-the-river-walk/ 50 cents an oyster!
