CWB
A friend is planning on retiring at Lake Chapala but they have serious chronic pain issues which require opioid medications. Are there chronic pain specialists in Guadalajara who will prescribe these medications and could anyone please share their experiences. Thanks for any help. geeser
Yes, there are numerous pain management specialist in Guadalajara. Down here it is handled by the anesthesiologist. Opiates are very tightly controlled here. You will get your prescription filled at only a few hospital pharmacies as most farmacia do not stock pain meds. Often the doctor will pick up the prescribed medication and you get it from his office. It may not be cheaper here than it is in the USA. Locally Dr Lastra on C. Constitution does pain management and can get you a prescription from Guadalajara.

Dr.Santiago
Dr. Evelyn Rodriguez comes to Chapala Med on Saturdays by appointment as well as my Guadalajara office during the week, also by appointment. She is a top anesthesiologist and pain management physicians who is on staff at CENTRO MEDICO de OCCIDENTE in Guadalajara. She has helped me manage my patients @ Lakeside and when they have been hospitalized in Guadalajara. Being an anesthesiologist she is on top of all the new and multi-modal therapies available here in Mexico for pain management.
tycobb1020
I must say that with the help of Dr. Santiago, Dr. Evelyn Rodriguez was very helpful to me. Thanks to you both.
Gary Roush
Is this data still accurate? We are considering spending a great deal of time in Ajijic but I am under the care of a pain management doctor in the US. I’m worried I won’t be able to find a doctor to assume oversight of my care. Rather than piggy backing on a 4 year old post, please start a new thread.
RickS
Why? His question was very germane to the subject of the previous Post so he asked it here. I see no harm whatsoever to doing this. What am I missing?
johanson
I only know that Dr. Santiago is still lakeside and practicing medicine. Sadly I know nothing about his anesthesiologist or pain management.
