HarryB
After reporting the dangers at the Ajijic malecon playground equipment to town councilman Carlos Soto, nothing was done. Delegado Hector Espana sent written requests to Chapala and nothing was done. Hector revealed the need in the papers and nothing was done. Now, the workers at the El Tempesque Herreria are stepping up and fixing what they can. If you have iron work to do, these men are the best and their prices are excellent. Please show the community's appreciation by considering them for any iron work you need done. And, please mention your appreciation for their work on the playground equipment. They are located in west Ajijic on the carretera across from El Sarape restaurant and the new liquor store. On a second front, Oral surgeon at the free dental clinic, Dr Miguel, has paid over 20,000 pesos for materials, donated over 40 sets of braces and made many bridges and dentures out of his own pocket. Recently, the mexican community stepped up and held a soccer match and raised 4500 pesos for Dr. Miguel. He was moved to tears by the gesture! Oldyfeliz
The word "sometimes" is offensive
Al Berca
Love your post, Harry. Thank you for letting us all know of the good deeds of those who have lived here much longer than we have. Some of us seem to think we foreigners are the only contributors around here. The truth is that we are the loudest contributors around here as Mexicans usually do not call attention to themselves when they contribute while foreigners seem to need to be noticed and praised for their contributions. I do not find the word " sometimes" offensive at all as you clearly used it as part of a tongue in cheek comment based upon some of the past remarks of a few whiny, complaining posters falsely assuming that the locals do not contribute. Keep up the good work on behalf of the total community here. Thank you.
Lexy
I am glad Harry gave credit to these iron workers. How this came about is really the story, since Harry pointed out that even after Hector pointed out the need in the papers nothing was done. But his title is way offensive. pappysmarket
Careful Harry, next thing you know you'll be known as "The Donald" of Ajijic. The PC police will be knocking on your door.
Davis775
Dear lord, Harry. Could you be anymore offensive? Don't actually take that as a challenge, as I know you could probably rise to the occasion. Maybe, pick your words with a bit more grace next time? MtnMama
Like Al, I trust Harry's subject line was tongue in cheek. I must say that the organizations where I volunteer include Mexican as well as foreign volunteers and together we make good things happen.

ChrisB
Al got it right. Too bad others persist in not getting it. Harry is involved in more projects than most of you can imagine. He is pretty well aware of who is doing what in our village and Mexicans too often get the least credit.
