Intercasa
We took a client into Guadalajara today to renew their driver license. They had their original license issued in Chapala. They were given a fake license and the license was seized and cut in half, now the person needs to apply for a new license. Beware as many people may think they have a valid license and gave money to someone who pocketed it and printed a non existent license at Transito years ago. slainte39
Was the scam license received through a facilitator or directly from someone in the Transito office?
Intercasa
From what we were told someone at the driver license office but we will confirm.

RVGRINGO
We had one of those, many years ago, and it was discovered by a transito, who threatened us with jail, etc. We cut it up and warned friends who had used the same lady facilitator for a fee of several hundred pesos. We never did get another Jalisco license, renewing our US license instead.
pepez
Intercasa, any way to tell if your license is phony? Something to look for; places to check? Thanks!
Intercasa
I dont know, will have to work on that one to see if there is any way. If they printed it at the transito office but never paid or reported it as an error then now way of knowing. I would assume that if you paid the license fee directly at the tax office then it would be less likely you would have a fake license.
Osoprehistorico
I renewed my license within the past year when Chapala was still doing it. I had to pay the fees in one office and then drive to where the licenses were issued. No money changed hands at the license issuing office. I had a receipt from where I paid. Al Berca
This happened four years ago at the now closed Chapala office?

If you are doing the renewal yourself BUT there is someone in the Transito pocking the money...what else can you do..if the license looks like the real thing and feel's like the real thing..then is must be the real thing..or not....No only in Mexico a other life's little challenges in Paradise.
