Entering Mexico With Pre-Approved Visa

Recommended Posts

Today, there was a woman at INM who had a pre-approved visa from the Houston consulate. She did not obtain a FMM at the border when driving in. She now has to drive out of the country and re-enter to obtain one. Please, never enter Mexico with a pre-approved visa and not obtain a FMM marked "CANJE" and not tourist.

saludos

Yes, even though you have a preapproved visa sticker in your passport you must stop at immigration upon entering Mexico and get an FMM form marked CANJE and it will be good for 30 days. Failure to stop and get the form means you will need to go back to the border and if they check you in as a tourist, it may delay your visa processing.

We have a visitor who flew in from the States and asked what, if anything he needs to do at the airport when he leaves on Saturday. He has a blue form.

I've been here too long to remember.........so please tell if you know.

I think the blue form is a customs declaration for you use coming into MX. To leave they need the second half of the visa. It is mostly white. Can't leave without it. On the plane to the US they will be given USA customs declarations or may just need to use the customs kiosk at immigration (DFW for sure is this way).

The for you need the section of is the FMM tourist permit; Forma Migratoria Multiple. You filled it out upon entry to Mexico and need the second half for exit. If you lost it, go to the airport early, as you will have to pay a fine and get an INM form to board your flight.
