That was a wild storm. Constant lightning and a few claps of thunder sounded like bombs! A couple inches here in SE Ajijic.

It is a different start to the rainy season. Weak currents from the NE, not much rain east of here, significant Pacific moisture still coming in, repeated eastern Pacific tropical storms very early.

Looking at the GOES West picture we see fairly localized storms over this area seemingly being generated by an upper level high in NW Mexico. This is not our normal rainy season pattern .

A look at the GOES East picture shows just how confused the circulation is. That's actually a weak tropical depression off of the Yucatan but instead of moving west as it normally would this time of year, it is predicted to move north west.

The good news is that these storms seem to be putting rain over our lake's watershed to the E, SE and S of us. But the dry areas east of us are still not getting much if any rain.

We found it very entertaining to watch from the comfort and safety of our covered patio! What really amazed me was the dummy who was in the field between El Parque and El Dorado firing off cohetes in the middle of the first storm (between about 8:30 and 9:30 last night).

Who stands out in the middle of an open field during an electrical storm? Even the chickens were smart enough to find shelter!

The Chapalaweather.net rain gauge must have got stuck. .36 inches! We don't live very far from there and got at least 1.5 inches or more.

With several short power outages the weather computer went down without notice until about 11:30 this morning - it's back up now. Hensley lives very near here and she posted #6 above .34. We're showing .46 for the past 24hours. The guy in Rancho del Oro is showing 2.69 in the last 24 hours. Amazing how it can vary. The 10 day forecast from Weather Underground shows a good chance for precip over night.
