Newbie Solicits Guidance for Somewhat Urgent Medical Treatment

Recommended Posts

Greetings lakeside community.

Being brand new to Ajijic (arrived just 6 days ago) without any established friends/acquaintances in the area as of yet to turn to for advice, I humbly seek your guidance.

Shockingly to me, I've developed a painful respiratory condition in the few days that I've been here that I feel may require medical treatment. While I do not believe the condition is life threatening, it is painful and worrisome enough to me that I would like to get it checked out on Monday if at all possible. My problem is I don't really know where to go or how to proceed.

I'm aware of Cruz Roja and its Chapala location, but don't know if this is the most appropriate place to call or appear, as I don't believe my case truly qualifies as an emergency. Is there perhaps a better option (possibly a professional medical care clinic in Ajijic) that I should consider? I don't know if this makes a difference, but I imagine chest x-rays may be needed to diagnose my condition.

Any recommendations or words of advice will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to becoming a positive contributor to this helpful board.

Thanks,

MexSeekin

Go to the Integrity Clinic located in plaza behind the PEMEX on the Libramiento. They have a staff of GP and Specialists. Get there at 9 when they open. A second option is the Ajijic Hospital located on the Carretera near BancoMultiva and Actinver. If you need more detailed directions PM me.

The pulmonologist Dr. Rogelio Peralta is at Quality Care on Mondays. Quality Care is in Plaza Interlago which is the plaza by the Pemex station on the libramento. Be sure that you don't confuse Quality Care with Integrity which is in the same plaza. Dr Peralta's cel is 3334671065 and the receptionist's land-line is 766-1870. Dr. Peralta is an exceptionally pleasant and capable English-speaking specialist who has helped me a lot.

you may also note that we are a mile in altitude here and some people need some time to get used to it, some never do and have to move to a lower elevation...and others get sick when there is a sudden change in weather like we've had this week. there are also some plants and micro-organisms that bloom with the first rain.good luck.

I've had pneumonia for the past two weeks. My doctor says she is seeing quite a few cases of it. On anitbiotics. I went to Dr. Lupita Cevalos at Integrity Clinic. Phone 766-5357. They are on the libramiento across from Walmart behind the Pemex station.

Definitely the best option.

Just got back from an overnight stay at San Javier Hospital in GDL (a long story) and am feeling better . . . .

I want to thank all of you who posted a reply or PM to me for your helpful responses. I now know what my options are when it comes to non-emergency -- though urgent -- medical care needs, and I hope this thread might prove useful to other newcomers.

With gratitude,

MexSeekin
