johanson
I find that by saying, when can you come? And then answering, great, please call me if you will be late or early so I can make sure to be there, helps. That way if they have not completed a job, will be late, I will know it and make other arrangements with them. They all have seem to have cell phones and because I kind of sort of speak and understand Mexican Spanish and I too have a cell phone I seem to have good luck MOST, but NOT all of the time. pedro malo
I can recommend "Gustavo" for punctuality, quality work and standing behind it. 3331573048 Came when called, did good work and when we had a problem with a roof repair last night, he had guys here 3 hours after I called. I'm in need of some educating MC. What is the difference between an abañil and a "contractor" here Lakeside? Are these one and the same? I've had similar plight trying to get an abañil to show up to do some minor one man repairs around the place. Could I call Gustavo for simple one man brick and mortar stuff? sue
Gustavo is a general contractor who has men working for him. He built the house I am living in and has sent men over to do as small job as raise a garden wall. He likes to keep his guys working so he can maintain a lot of talented men on his payroll. No job to small

Thank you Sue. So a contractor Lakeside is the same as one Stateside. The albañil is just one of his specialist tradesman. Gracias vista lake. Ahora lo entiendo mejor. Usted conoce un albañil que me podía recomendar que es responsable y hace excelente trabajo? Gracias por la explicación y respuesta.

Niki
How do you feel about a web page that rates service people on price, quality of service and dependability? Would that be legal? Does it already exist?

el bartman
For a contractor Rudy's Marble and Granite would probably be your best bet. Probably has an ad in the Ojo del Lago. As to times, first they have to give me a time. If they aren't there when they say I'm not there later. Then I find someone else. Now, several years later, when they give me a time they always show up when they say they're going to. No big deal and it works for me.
Orygun Duck
As Jimmy Buffet put it, some of us may need to adjust our attitude to the latitude. Countries which are or have been until recently largely agricultural tend to have a looser since of time. Part of the reason is technological - less reliable communications and transportation - and part is simply that in an agricultural society hours and minutes aren't particularly important. Old ways often die hard among certain members of the society.
