El Saltos
Since Costco and AMEX have parted company, what credit cards does Costco accept?

Don Cuevas
When I mistakenly used my U.S. issued credit card at Costco Morelia, there was a surcharge from Costco. I'm more careful now to use only a Mexico based debit card, with no surcharges.
Mainecoons
Costco hasn't parted with Amex yet, have they? We still have a valid, usable in the U.S. AMEX Costco card. The Mexico based debit card gets the cash price?

RVGRINGO
In Tucson, at least, they are switching to Visa. We give up! It used to be a card that I cannot remember, then AMEX, and now it will be Visa. So, we use Costco less and use either a debit card or cash when we do. At least, in Mexico they will accept most major credit cards. Not so in the USA; bad move, I think.
johanson
I was at the Seattle Costco store last week. And I was told that as of 1 April, 2016, that the new card will be citi Visa. She didn't know about Mexico. I just phoned Costco headquarters which is near Seattle, the person who answered the call confirmed the information, but sadly did not know about what the policies are or will be in Mexico either. canmex87
They will accept them here but it isn't cheap. They charge 2% over cash purchases when you use a credit card.
Mainecoons
I understood it was 3 percent but I can't swear to it. Considering the better exchange rate with a card it is probably a wash.
johanson
I remember 2% The 3% was the exchange rate charged by some credit cards when paying a bill in Mexico in Pesos with a US credit card
Mainecoons
So with some credit cards, it could cost you a total of five percent. That's pretty significant. Good information, thanks!
