snowyco
Fridges draw surprisingly small wattages: from 75W to 200 W. The other voltage regulator discussion is for microwave ovens, which use 5X to 10X higher wattages, so they require different regulators. Next, the voltage regulators for electric motors, like refrigerator compressors, are designed and wired very differently from the voltage regulators for electronics. It takes a different regulator to protect a fridge or clothes dryer than the regulator for a microwave oven. Compare a Koblenz Ri-2502 for fridges http://www.koblenz.com.mx/descricao.php?p=2&c=7&sc=19&pr=198 versus a Koblenz Modelo: ER-2550 for higher power microwave ovens http://www.koblenz.com.mx/descricao.php?p=2&c=7&sc=37&pr=
jrm30655
Where do you buy one? Steren has a good large regulator
lcscats
Anything with a motor has a peak load that can defeat lesser power regulators. They have special ones for fridges and water pumps for example if you have specific power problems. My electricity wiring is underground from the transformer and doesn't wander up or down much compared to some peoples situation. You may not need a power conditioner for your Mexican made fridge is my point. First step in monitor your electricity and see where the voltage goes. Mine is between 123V and 129V which is pretty good. I also have never lost a phase like many folk. I would buy Steren before Koblenz as I have had two Koblenz products fail including a fridge power regulator. Also supporting the Steren store is important for us here lakeside. Of course your mileage may vary due to many things regarding Mexican electricity and local conditions like a welding shop next door.
