Precolumbian Fowl

I'm currently reading The Memoirs of the Conquistador Bernal Diaz del Castillo. In every stop along the way the conquistadors shook down the locals for whatever they could get but almost always that included fowl. The author never specifies what fowl these may have been. I assume that the indigenous peoples kept turkeys but what other fowl may have been kept at that time?

The Memoirs of the Conquistador by Bernal Diaz del Castillo is on sale for Kindle on Amazon--free.

Two big volumes! Lots of info but kind of a slog getting through it.

If the author can be believed the Aztecs were quite the cannibals which makes them kinda foul, themselves.

Certainly no fouler than the gachupines.
