ComputerGuy
On the $399 plan, you get 100 calls, local and/or long distance. After that, you pay for every call.

Al Berca
it typically takes long distance and international calls two months to appear on my bill, not the following month.

moderator-2
Bennie, I'll second the warning. Too much gratuitous posting. Every thread does not require a comment from you. We're getting complaints.

desertdave
Here's a question. I have the 199 peso per month plan on my smartphone. Do I get free long distance calls to the U.S.? If so, what happens when I visit the U.S. and use my phone to call my friends and family in the U.S.?
Guest bennie2
mod #s 2/3: what i mean (should have said) is that an international call counts as a local call.

MtnMama
This doesn't happen often, but I agree with Bennie. The Telmex Website says for the $389 package, "unlimited" for both Minutes LADA International and Minutes LADA World. The icons look like North and South America for the first and a globe for the second. It says "Local calls no time limit 100" http://translate.google.com.mx/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.telmex.com/web/hogar/servicios-internet&prev=search

brianway
I totally agree with Moderator's 2 & 3. People do not have to be miserable on this site. If you cannot be pleasant in your remarks, then get off the site. To Bennie2 - re-read your posts before you send them to that you say what you mean!!! And the posting I made in this thread is very clear.
Osoprehistorico
Does this apply to US 800 calls?
Tom Leonard
There has been a lot of comments on this thread which has made things a bit confusing, so I wanted to clarify as it is an important topic: - What the OP "Kathy Mac' posted is right, 'free phone calls to the Canada and the US" , which means unlimited phone calls, - if you have the 389 pesos plan. You also get 200 minutes of calls to cell phones and 100 calls to local phone lines.. If you have the higher plan, 599 pesos a month, then you get unlimited cell phone and local calls as well as unlimited International calls. It's best to check the website: http://www.telmex.com/web/hogar/conexion-internet
ComputerGuy
Still not quite right, Tom: In a previous post, I noted: (http://www.chapala.com/webboard/index.php?showtopic=53638&page=1) - $389 plan gets you unlimited long distance up to 100 calls. Footnotes add: for the $389 plan, you get 1,000 minutes max of long distance internationally and 350 minutes globally. And for the $599 plan, it is 600 minutes to mobile phones, some gobbledygook about conference calls, 1,000 long distance and 350 international long distance, and special rates for those other countries that are not included in "the World". Curmudgeon
Here's a question. I have the 199 peso per month plan on my smartphone. Do I get free long distance calls to the U.S.? If so, what happens when I visit the U.S. and use my phone to call my friends and family in the U.S.?Your cellphone plan is with Telcel, not Telmex. On that plan cellphone calls from Mexico to the USA are 2 pesos/minute. If you are going to visit the USA, you can buy a special package from Telcel for a month or whatever to avoid high roaming charges, but remember your friends/family will have to call your Mexican number to call you. Your alternative is to buy a prepaid SIM card when you get to the USA.
windstar
I just got my Telmex bill and there was no charge for calls to the US, Europe, National or cell phones!!! Thanks Telmex. Not so for 800 numbers. From Mexico you have to dial 880. My new bill shows 342 peso charge for 57 minutes
