Do you know of a municipal responsibility that you feel isn't being met?

Like a pot hole or a street light that is out (in Ajijic). ? Take a picture and post it on the Ajijic Delegacion facebook page. Hector will forward it to Chapala and try to get them to act.

Harry, there are so many pot holes on Aldama I wouldn't know where to begin.

We need to get back to the system where they came out twice per year and fixed them all. It was efficient and effective.

Chapala isn't going to do anything of significance for this town as long as the current administration is there IMO.

I thought those were just "speed reduction features"

In Villa Nova, they wait until a week before the rainy season to fix the potholes. Then 2 weeks later, they are back

It's still a real bitch to get off Revolution north and turn left onto the Carretera. It is the most dangerous intersection and all requests for a traffic light have fallen on deaf ears. Cars come at you from all directions and it can take 5 minutes to get out. :013:

Do we really need 2 in La Floresta and 2 or 3 between WalMart and SuperLake?

3 large potholes on Callejón de la Zapota (one of which borders the carretera next to Il Bambolo restaurant); the others are near the tiny bridge over the arroyo. Worse, all the wiring for the lights was stolen over a year ago so the ride up/down is very dangerous in the dark. We've reported, asked, begged, complained... the Delegación is aware, but no action. Maybe this is our lucky day?

re: sidewalk front of hardware store/guad pharm. dont have camera/cell phone/equipment to take photos. we discussed this before. you said maybe the hardware store would help pay for the cement as the pharm wont. 1000 pesos? there are huge holes.

Sidewalks are the responsibility of the building or home owner and not the municipality.

The two lights in La Floresta are controlling one intersection

If this thread is so everyone can kvetch again about the same old same old, fine. The reality is that the government's term is coming to an end and when it does there will be roughly 6 pesos in the bank account. The presidente is PAN. Hector is PRI and his brother will be vying for the PRI candidacy for Presidente against Javier Degollado which process has started now. PRI will probably win and nothing will change in Ajijic no matter who the new Presidente is. Carry on.

So your approach is to simply say nothing and just keep handing them the double-digit property tax increases without comment?

What do you think this will accomplish? If Harry and Hector adopted your attitude would we have any of the things they have accomplished despite the stonewalling of the Chapala regime?

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained." It may be futile to raise these concerns but it certainly is futile if everyone simply gives up without a fight.

BTW, there's a new political party that seems very active locally and they will be putting up a candidate for Presidente. It may be premature to assume that we will be stuck with the same corrupt and incompetent PAN and PRI offerings.

What do you expect this is a third world country.

Mexico is well beyond 3rd world classification. It is an "emerging economy." Twenty-five years ago Mexico was poised to make the break through but did not: crime and corruption held the country back. Now, Mexico is at that point once again, and once again it is looking like the opportunity will be lost.
