cstone
Good Morning, Spencer, Please refresh my memory. If one has a spouse that is Permanente, must one apply for residency here in Mexico or can it be done in the US ? If USA is OK, might that be more advantageous regarding financial requirements ? Also, can one go directly to Permanente without first being Temporal ? Thank you.
Sonia
Thanks Spencer If spouse is Permanent, the other can become a Temporary Resident with no financials and apply locally but must have a current FMM, etc. After two years, this TR becomes Permanent. At many INM offices if the name on the apostilled / legallized marriage license does not match the exact name on the passport they will have a very difficult time. cstone
Everything matches, Sonia. and they have been Apostilled. Would they need translation if application is made out of country ? It sounds as if one MUST be Temporal before becoming Permanente. Am I correct ?
Sonia
Yes, translated by a certified translator. Spencer's office can do this. Temp for 2 years.
Intercasa
Many consulates do not ask for translations if the document is in the language of the country where the consulate is located. The law asks for translations but nobody has asked me to translate anything so I assume it isnt necessary.
