Adobe Studio January Classes

Basic Papermaking
Wednesdays, January 14 and 21, 11am - 2 pm
$450p instruction and materials

This two-afternoon workshop will cover how to make paper from discarded paper scraps and local plants like banana leaves, tule and grasses, flowers and leaves. You will be crafting your own paper. We will make boxes, bookmarks and other items.

Bookmaking
Wednesdays: January 28, February 4, February 11, 11am - 2 pm
$450p instruction and materials

This three-afternoon workshop follows on from the Basic Papermaking workshop. This workshop will cover the making of 2 kinds of books, sewn and codice (or accordion). You will be making both the inside papers and the covers for your books. We will make both decorative papers and writing papers for the insides. You must have taken the Basic Papermaking workshop as a prelude to this class.

Instructor: Brad Mowers. Brad is a fiber craftsman with 30 years experience and has been making his own paper and teaching the craft to children and adults for several years.

Basketry

Thursdays, January 15, 22, 29- 11– 2 pm.

$450 instruction and materials

This class is for beginners and also for the more advanced. Beginners will be introduced to basketry using local natural materials gathered at Lakeside. The more advanced students will continue on already-begun projects or pick up a new technique and or materials, both natural and man-made.

The instructor for this class is Jan Steinbright who has had over forty years experience in fiber arts and sculpture.
