sparks
The reforms also contemplated that foreigners over 65 and those who come to the country through a letter of invitation from a public or private institution, evidencing participation in a derived event international commitments, sponsored by the Federal Government, not must verify income for the visa. snowyco
These SRE rules lowering the $$ personal fiscal solvency requirements were also described by Spencer - Intercasa back in early October, a week before they took effect.See lots of good details at Spencer's post and the thread here on Chapala.com called: "HUGE Changes today to Mexican immigration law" These changes last month of lowering the $$ personal solvency requirements affect all foreigners who apply for Mexican residency, and were issued as SRE regulations-lineamientos for all Mexican Consulates. http://www.dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5363603&fecha=10/10/2014
Intercasa
Article is a bit confusing, they mix tourist visa requirements for non exempt countries and temporal visas. They also state 3 month bank stmts when that only applies to show income, if it is assets then 6 months for visitors visas. This really does not apply to 99% of the people lakeside so dont read into it too much

snowyco
It just sounded like people over 65 didn't need to show solvency Typically, expats on this board get 180 day Mexican visitor's visas, that also have no personal solvency requirements. As Spencer wrote, doesn't the DOF - SRE Lineamientos clause for foreigners "over 65 years old" describe it for just a special exotic class of visitor's visas? "V.
