MtnMama
We have a friend who would like to adopt a young(@ 6 months) guard dog. Appreciate any leads I would add that you can't buy a "guard" dog. You can buy a watch dog - most dogs will alert you of any thing they feel is out of the ordinary. You have to train a guard dog and it is best to train both the owner and the dog together. I understand there is someone in Guadalajara who trains guard dogs - I have seen mixed results. MyHomeSweetHome
Guard dog, meaning not a poodle ankle biter. I own two trained guard dogs and yes they would alert without training. I'm not sure what you've seen Mtnmama concerning mixed results, I'm the only one in the area that I know of that own's a personal protection guard dog aside from a couple in Jocotepec that went to school with us, although they did not train to the extent that I did. I'm sure you've seen me walking my dog. Either they're trained or they're not. Why does everything on this board have to turn into a debate. I don't debate. So I will clarify, family looking for, 4-6 month old POTENTIAL guard dog. Whether the family has the dog professionally trained to be a personal protection guard dog, like mine is, that's up to them. They need a big dog in the guard dog catagory that will grow up with the children. That has permanent teeth already. It's not so complicated. I have nothing more to comment on this thread. If someone has seen an older puppy that qualifies, please kindly send me a pm. Thank you.
