lumieretoo
Resident temporal and TIP expires March 2015. Need to make a trip NOB. DRIVING. Do I need to sign out (FMM), cancel car permit and then on re-entry get a new TIP and sign in?

RVGRINGO
If you happened to wreck your car, or it was stolen or traded in, you would never be able to bring another car into Mexico. If you want to break the rules....your choice, but don‘t complain if you find out later that your car is illegal, or that you lost your RT Visa because you did not do things correctly. Floradude suggest what you might get away with, not what is required.
rittinger
We missed the Mexican checkpoint on our way back to Canada and still have our import permit. What can we do?
RVGRINGO
You can do nothing outside of Mexico. As far as Mexico is concerned, your car is still in Mexico. Leave the sticker on and keep your paper work. Upon your return to Mexico, go directly to Banjercito, as though you were leaving Mexico. Have them remove the sticker and give you a receipt. Keep it forever. Leave Mexico and spend a night north of the border. Return in the morning and get a new Importada Temporal for your car, and a new FMM tourist permit, if you are a tourist. rittinger
We were hoping to leave the car in Canada and take another into Mexico that we can nationalize. The first car is in my name and the second in my husbands name.
RVGRINGO
You, as importer of the first car, will never be able to take another into Mexico. You really made a bad decision at the border in not getting the sticker removed and officially receipted, as required. I guess you thought it too inconvenient, and now will have to deal with it. Your husband might consider temporarily importing a car, in his name only, into Mexico, but if the purpose is just to get one that can be nationalized, I would suggest that it would be much more practical to drive car #1 back, and then remove it legally before your next trip to Canada. You really should buy a car in Mexico. Importation of eligible NAFTA cars is seldom economically practical and then you still have the likelihood of insurance concerns and repair parts availability, unless it was made in Mexico for the Mexican market.
