Letter of permission to rent or loan car?

Recommended Posts

I have heard that if you plan to rent or loan your car to someone that you should give them a letter of permission to drive it and the letter should be in English and Spanish. Does anyone have a copy of such a letter that they could post or PM me? Thanks. Are there any other requirements?

If your vehicle is not Mexican plated, you may not allow a Mexican or a Residente Permanente to drive it, unless you are also in the vehicle.

Many expats make the mistake of allowing mecnanics and valets to drive their foreign plated cars; a potentially dangerous error.

Then, you may lend it to anyone, but it would not hurt to give them such a letter and to have them included as a driver on your insurance policy.

My insurance guy told me i can let anyone drive my MXN plated car. The insurance is on the car, and if the person has a valid driver's license, he is covered, too.
