elrich
Have you had cataract surgery done by the IMSS. And were you please with their service. Appreciate your comments, thank you.
Wookie
I see there have been no replies. My suggestion would be if at all possible to have a private eye specialist do this procedure instead of going to IMSS. Be sure no matter what you do to have only one eye done at a time. elrich
Thank's Luke for your suggestion. I am surprised that there was no replies to this post. Usually people will reply to anything on this form. So now I an asking for recommendation for an eye specialist.

Sandrita
I highly recommend Dr. Vargas who operates out of Hospital Peuerta de Hierro in Guad. He did cataract surgery on my right eye on April 7th and it was very successful. He comes to the Ajijic Clinic every Tues. evening and the consultation charge is $600; they take debit cards and credit cards. Buena suerte. Irish Gal
My recommendation is for Dr. Carlos Naranjo Ahumada Av. Ruben Dario No. 1584 Colonia Providencia Guadalajara Tel. (01) 33-3642-5875 or (01) 33-3640-1329 My research revealed that he is department head of ophthalmology for IMSS in Guadalajara. In addition, he is also a glaucoma specialist He was recommended to me by a nurse here at Lakeside who had successful cataract surgery. I had the right eye operated on March 10th and the second eye on April 16th. There was such an improvement in my eyesight that I wish I'd had it done sooner! My wife has cataracts but they are not bad enough for her insurance to pay for the procedures. Very expensive here.

danjames56
I had it done by Dr. Claudia Camacho. Her price is under 20.000. Www.camacho-choza.com. Very professional and great outcome.

I was quoted 45k or 65k depending on the lenses used.
Willie
I know,I know....this has been discussed to death....but I had my cataracts removed, both by Dr. Rios....I am VERY pleased! It is just great being able to see without glasses...like a miracle! He also did my lens implants...I went for the tri-focal lenses...not sorry at all. danjames56
Dr. Camacho offers transportation. From your home door to clinic and back. I got picked up at 2:30 and was back home at 6:

My two surgeries were both successful. I cannot remember the cost at the moment and as I am preparing to go on vacation tomorrow I won't have time to look for the invoices. I recall that it was in the general neighbourhood of Because of a cardiac condition I chose to have the procedures done in Puerta de Hierro Hospital which increased the cost a little, rather than in a clinic which is where most people have them done. If I were in your position, I would come here and then arrange consultations with a couple of the doctors mentioned here and then make your choice. There are many drivers here who will take you into Guadalajara.
Willie
Dr Rios also provides transportation to the clinic which only does eye surgeries and afterwards directly to your home.
carollopezart@gmail.com
Willie, do you have to move your head up and down to get the right part of the tri-focal lens to kick in (the way I have to do with my progressive glasses lenses) and do klyou now not have to use glasses at all? for anything? Did they say this outcome will last? Lots of questions - maybe you could also send me a link to how these tri-focals actually work, if you know of a good one. I am in Canada right now, and the doctors and their assistants here are too busy to answer complicated questions.
carollopezart@gmail.com
I am in Canada now, but live in La Manzanilla for the winter, so it seems like a good idea to have the cataract surgery in Mexico to save money, and avoid the waiting list we have here. Can anyone recommend a surgeon there who I could Skype and talk to directly with many questions I have?
Yo1
Senor Google is your friend and will give you accurate information rather than rely on someone elses idea.
