Building Permit?????

Recommended Posts

If you use a contractor make sure he pays all fees and IMSS. People I know who hired a contractor to build their house were charged with several thousands dollars equivalent in pesos because the contractor did not pay IMSS and the fees.

You'll most likely need a permit.

While the contractor can handle this for you, the responsibility to make sure it is done (along with the IMSS and Infonavit as Joco mentions) is the property owner's.

You'll want to see the placard from the municipio and the paper permit, and it is easiest to arrange the IMSS etc payments through a good accountant. Each worker's ID # needs to be registered and paid on a regular basis throughout the timeframe of the project, with a "finiquito" document which you will receive at the end once the gov't confirms all is in order.

Thank you for stopping with the RED. Of course you need a permit and may not need anything but a napkin drawing if there is an engineer in the local Obras Públicas willing to draw it legal for you. Cost me 1000 pesos for the drawing and whatever the permit cost by the SQ meter. If you can't handle the Spanish just take someone with you. You will save a lot of money.

Yes ... be concerned that workers have Seguro (insurance) because it will come back on you if someone is injured.

Infonavit is not for day workers or short term. Need an every day job with big company
