He will probably have to coordinate with a mason if the installation will involve repairs, repainting, etc. We had one opening window in a new cupola, but find that we do not need to open it, as the room has good cross ventilation. ComputerGuy Posted February 9, 2014 Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 Not to hijack, but need someone similar: have a closed-window cupola that let's in light, but also collects heat and causes dripping condensation inside, and cracks around the outside. Looking for someone who can reliably provide advice/construction on changing it to something with ventilation, but won't weigh heavy on the roof. In your case, you might simply remove the existing glass from their frames and have vented inserts made to fit for two of the windows, leaving the other two for light. We have such screened, louvered vents on skylights and they let air circulate, but not rain. However, they do not admit light; that is provided through separate glass at the top.
