Scooter
As a result of gaining our new status as Permanente we intend to return our Ontario plated car (long since expired) to Canada. We have already checked with Ontario authorities and (supposedly) can get a 6 month temporary Ontario plate with an "rider" on our car insurance in Ontario to cover the trip back home from the Mexican/US border. Parker Insurance has told us the will give us Mexican insurance to get us to the border. My question: Does anyone have reliable information as to how to get a legal Mexican exit permit to drive the car from the Chapala area to the border. We have the original hologram sticker from 1998 that was attached to the windshield at the border when we entered with our original FM3. geeser
It is possible to get a Returno Seguro pass for your trip north through Mexico. see fourm: http://www.chapala.com/wwwboard/webboard.html and: http://www.chapala.com/wwwboard/webboard.html The Mexican insurance will be much cheaper from Lewis & Lewis online at https://duckduckgo.com/?q=lewis+and+lewis+insurance and you can print out the policy. If there are any snags with the temp tags from Canada you can get a temporary tag good for a month or two weeks in Texas at the Web county clerks office in Laredo (need insurance & title & registration) call (956) 523-420 for info: http://www.mechanicadvisor.com/tx/laredo/auto-registration-tags-and-titles Don't forget to have the sticker removed at Mexican Aduana in Nvo. Laredo for refund of your $40 deposit if it is worth your time.

Intercasa
Hi, my office does the retorno seguro exit permits. We have done many and know the system well. You will get no refund of any deposit paid as you are permanent which implies that you did not do the aduana notification or really could not after your last immigration document expired. What province are you from? We have some issues with SAT and certain provinces as they are not used to documents from certain provinces and if they are expired we may need to add extra documentation to the application.
