Dish TV questions

Gregory: We too are using the Dish U-S and loose the signal whenever a cloud moves over. The rain just brings an end to our viewing. We've been on the system for 8 years now and installed a larger dish a couple of years ago to improve the reception. It's a bit better then the smaller dish, but not much. I guess the only fix now is an even larger dish but I don't think that would fly with our association. In the meantime, we are fair weather viewers.

I have recently changed over to Dish satelite. I lose my complete signal with moderate to heavy clouds even without rain. Is this the normal that the rest of you encounter that have dish or is my signal weaker than the norm. I would appreciate any feedback you can give me.

Thank you

The only way to improve it is a larger dish antenna and stronger LNBs that pick up a signal better than the Dish LNBs. Dish moved the satellites so that now Western Mexico barely gets a signal.

Watch TV online. Send the signal to your TV. It will be easier and cheaper than investing in more satellite equipment.

Free local Networks and they sell a reasonable plan for the rest of their channels:

Free but some stations do come and go and you can get advertising:

All I know is that the 4 US DISH channels picked up on a 2.4 meter dish in West Chapala for Telecable have a message thereon from the Dish receiver saying Complete Signal Loss. I get the same message on my 2.4 meter dish pointed at DirecTV USA.

Sadly the satellite dealers tell us that the largest Ku band dish available here, is the 2.4 meter or 8 foot dish

However the signals being picked up by a 36.5 by 26.5 inch (75 E) Canadian Shaw Direct elliptical dish is bringing in their signals from Canada very clearly in both SD and HD this afternoon. These signals carried on the Canadian satellites also includes signals from the US network stations.

Even last night I received continuous signals from Anik F1R on Shaw Direct. I only lost signals from those channels on Anik F2 the bird that carries most of the HD channels. And I'm using the 75 E elliptical dish (36.5 by 26.5 inches)

Let me add that as LCScats posted, the US DIS and DirecTV signals are so weak down here that even with the 2.4 meter or 8 foot dish one looses signals much sooner when the weather hasn't gotten that bad yet.

Right now. My signals are great on Shaw but aren't coming in on DISH very well via the Telecable antenna in West Chapala.

I only lost the HD bird last night as the other said. Standard picture. (SD) works fine unless it gets really really black cloudy than it all goes.

No doubt the most reliable sat other than Mexican sat services (dish mexico, and sky) is Shaw and we don't get the new sat down here.

We have US Dish with the 8 foot dish. Recently had the dish realligned to maximize the signal. I was getting the complete signal loss, especially on Ion channel 216 all the time, and now our signal strength is 46, up from 21, and no problems now. We are on Sat 119.

Can you please let me know who you used to realign, contact info and how much? Thanks
