The government announced that people who already have a CURP can apply for an RFC tax ID number online without having to make an appointment and bring documents to one of the SAT offices.

I did it yesterday and it works. https://siat.sat.gob.mx/PTSC/inscurp/

It's a whole lot easier than spending an entire day at the SAT office in Guadalajara. You need a RFC number in order to get any sort of refund from SAT.

This link doesn't work. "Error 404 Not Found". Please try again. Thanks.

The original post is from 2013 so it is quite likely that things have changed since then.

Thanks for pointing that out. Someone posted the link in the Ajijic section. Here it is.

Still available online, best to know your plans as the online things only works once, after that you need to go to SAT in Guadalajara or Zapopan, also make sure you know your computer well or else you could sign up and then could get blocked out without being able to print or copy of the RFC
