CHRISTMAS POSADA FOR NESTIPAC ANCIANOS, 11 DECEMBER 2013

Who are the Nestipac ancianos (elderly)? Nestipac is one of the poorest areas in Jocotepec with a large number of needy older folks. Some live with their families, some live alone, and some are bed-ridden, but few of them get much in the way of Christmas presents.

You can help these folks by contributing matrimonial/double-bed size blankets, dispensas (basic food boxes), or cash with which to purchase blankets or dispensas to be given away at their Christmas posada. The party will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, 11 December 2013, in the Nestipac church courtyard.

For the past few years, many of you cleaned out your closets of gently-used sweaters and jackets, which were much appreciated and are still being worn. (We see them on folks here on the streets of Nestipac and Jocotepec.) However, this year we would like to primarily distribute matrimonial-size blankets and dispensas. You may already have begun to see both for sale at Walmart, Costco, Bodega Aurrera, or Soriana. If everyone who reads this could donate a blanket or dispensa or some cash, remembering their own parents, it would be such a tremendous help to our project.

Cash donations are MOST welcome, not only for helping with the posada (food, paper plates, cups, napkins, and decorations), but also for purchasing dispensas from a vendor in Jocotepec.

This year the Nestipac Christmas party will take place on 11 December at 2pm. What began in the street with 10 people six years ago has now grown into a large event, with 100 guests, entertainment, gifts, and food. It is a heartwarming day and lots of hugs are given and received. You are welcome to participate. For more information, contact the folks listed below and/or visit these websites:

To make donating as easy as possible, we will have various drop off points for gifts and cash, and we'll even pick up your donations, which we need by (and preferably before) December 5th. That gives us an opportunity to purchase what we may be lacking.

For drop offs or pick ups and/or additional information, please PM me.

Please help give these older folks a happy Christmas! Thank you all!
