bdlngton
Asking for some friends: They want a driver/guide to take them to Reynosa/McAllen in their own vehicle and then back to Lakeside before the end of this month. They will pay all expenses (gas, tolls, hotels, meals, etc.) and, of course, the driver/guide for his services. He does not necessarily need to drive the whole time as they can share driving. Wife needs to leave Mexico as she is here on tourist visa and foreign-plated car is on TIP connected to that. Husband is on permanente. They will turn around and she will enter on another tourist visa and get another TIP for car. Unfortunately car is still too new to nationalize yet so until they can do that they will need to do this every six months. Please PM me with names and phone numbers of reliable drivers/guides to pass on to them.
Gilligan
Francisco Miramontes provides this type of service, you should contact him for a price. They don't come any better. 766 1142
gimpychimp
Call Alex Peterson for a quote and it will likely be a reasonable price. 333-577-7765. He's an American man who is fluent in Spanish.
solajijic
Why doesn't that wife just get a temporal?

geeser
Many of my friends have used Sergio Alverez (tel 376-766-4640 or 41, 42, sergus_tours@yahoo.com ) and been very happy. Several have used Sergio for trips as far as Florida or Guatamala along with many, many trips to the border.
Mrguero
I would also recommend Alex Peterson. His rates are the most reasonable that I've found at Lakeside and he's also excellent company(which is a plus on a road trip). He's lived in Mexico over 20 years, so he knows the language and the country very well. 333 577 7765
bdlngton
Thank you everybody for all of the recommendations. I have sent them all on to my friends and they will need to do some interviewing to choose the driver/guide to take them.
pappysmarket
This just posted today on one of the PV boards: For those driving to Laredo, TX, roads in San Luis Potosi and Tamaulipas, between PV and Laredo, suffered serious damage. It may be impossible to make it to the border that way.
RVGRINGO
Friends just made the trip, arriving in Chapala today. They did not report any such damage and made good time.
jausten09
Edited by moderator, thread hijacking. You need to settle this problem personally with Mr. Peterson. Do not post about it on this board.
Mainecoons
Going towards Laredo to go to McAllen is out of the way and costs a lot more in tolls. After you circle Lagos De Moreno one does not have to go through another town of any significant size using the direct Pharr/McAllen route. I routinely make the border at Pharr from here in 10.5-11 hours. I would suggest staying two nights and doing a lot of shopping as McAllen/Pharr is loaded with good shopping and reasonably priced rooms.
