They are considering renting a car there to use for a week and tour around a bit (Chapala, Mazamitla, Tequila, etc.). Travelling with an infant so not real keen on taking buses and taxis everywhere they want to go. Has anyone here have recent experience renting a 5 dr. automatic with AC and unlimited mileage? I would like your recommendation of which company to use (there are 12) and how the whole insurance thing works (somewhat confusing which coverage is needed). RVGRINGO Posted September 14, 2013 Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 Just choose your car rental agency and the car, but know that you must take the Mexican insurance coverage, as your US insurance will not apply in Mexico. Also, they are not US citizens but are Canadian (not that that should make much difference). Perhaps something like CAA travel insurance may cover some?? paradise Posted September 16, 2013 Report Share Posted September 16, 2013 I use Orbitz for car rentals....at Gdl you can drive on the rental car agency area and see the companies that have the new cars....
