Sandrita
I submitted my papers to my attorney on July 30 and am going Permanente. Since the expiration is looming she said she could get me a "NUT" from INM. Is this some sort of indication that my application is in process and if stopped by any police I won't wind up seeing the inside of a Mexican jail? I already have my Mexican plated car. Thanks in advance.
Ajijic
At the time your visa application is submitted to INM they generate a page with your name and NUT number. It starts with six 0's. Every time you return to INM you should have this page with NUT number and your passport.
RVGRINGO
NUT = Numero Unico de Tramite, indicating that you are in Tramite; process of getting something issued. No worry about jail. That same letter has a website and PIN (contraseƱa) which will allow you to follow the process of your application online.
