Restricted meds

Recommended Posts

If anyone is on a prescribed medication with restrictions, they might want to check their pharmacy to see the availability. According to my doctor they are holding some Mede up at the labs. They, being the new govt and for what reason......you got it. This would include various pain killers. Another temporary slam dunk leaving some folks out. Hopefully this will sort itself out but best to be backed up if you can.

I just completed the big run-around for the umpteenth time a few days ago. It's been a struggle for the past 7 years, but this time really scared me. I was ready to throw in the towel and head back north.

I sincerely hope that others who require class 2 drugs for chronic pain will be checking with their doctors well in the advance of need. The good news is that certain drugs, primarily morphine, morphine derivatives, and semi-synthetics like Oxycontin, Oxycodone, etc. appear for the moment to be in good supply (for Mexico). That could change in a day, especially when you know that there are only 2 or 3 pharmacies in Guadalajara that carry them. The product I use for a neuropathic condition, Methadone, is at best difficult to come by. PISA (BIG outfit), the sole importer of Methadone produced in the U.S., no longer has Methadone and they have no idea when or if they'll ever have it again.

I have heard through my Pain Specialist, employees at two narcotic certified pharmacies and others, stories about the government, narcos, large scale thefts, investigations, etc. I won't share them because it's nearly impossible to verify anything. For sure my Pain Specialist/Anesthesiologist is concerned about serious oscillations in drugs for the palliative care of cancer victims, other palliative requirements (like me), and even a satisfactory level of drugs used for surgery anesthesia. Part of the problem is address here in an article by the World Health Organization - WHO.

If you are feeling frustrated about obtaining a narcotic type pharmaceutical product please PM me. At least for the moment there is a pharmacy that has stock in these types of medicines. It is a pharmacy not know to most doctors who aren't also anesthesiologists.

Please note that my last paragraph says "if you are frustrated about obtaining a NARCOTIC type pharmaceutical.. PM me." While I'd love to be able to help with all restricted medicines, I only have experience in Opiates and Synthetics, e.g. Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Methadone, etc. If you are having difficulty in finding a "prescription required" medication then you should pump your doctor. If your doctor cannot locate a script he is writing, you need a new one.
