ChrisB
June 14 at the park (by the pier) Ajijic will hold it's First Annual Plant In from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents and friends are asked to bring their excess/surplus plant material to be planted in public spaces for everyone to enjoy. Plants that need to be divided, bushes or trees that have gotten too big for their spaces or anything you have just gotten tired of will be welcome. As the rainy season begins everything will get bigger. Plan for it and help the village beautification effort! All garden clubs and gardeners welcome to come and help. Municipal employees will be on hand to do the heavy lifting.

moderator-2
We have a couple of potted palm trees that are root bound and would probably do far better if transplanted to soil. They're too heavy to move by us but if someone wants to come for them, we'd be happy to donate them.
Floradude
Watering is the key here. Transplanted plants need watering daily for a significant period of time in this climate. I wonder how many will be alive in one month.
KathyTX
Do we need to bring any tools?
ChrisB
The municipal employees should have tools, but, this is Mexico? We timed this event for the beginning of rainy season to keep the transplants well watered. Hopefully some of our gardener friends will help us keep eyes on the workers to make sure they keep the plants well watered.

Musicdoc
Chris: We'll bring our tools and help. For those with "slightly" negative thoughts and doubts - when we first moved here, we were surprised to see how many people help hang paper streamers for the fiestas - and even more surprised that not one helped remove them. I asked our housekeeper about this and she said, "man puts up, God takes down." One of the reasons for our rains. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - man plants, and God waters! Let's support this effort. It's perfect timing for God to do his job.

FHBOY
Just came back from the rallying point for the Plant-In. Nice response and the planters are working on the malecon, the carretera and a Six Corners. One of those in attendance suggested that we try and set another date, maybe as soon as next week, to do this again. What y'all think about that?
