Plastic Surgery

Guadalajara has a few very good and talented Plastic Surgeons. I am very comfortable recommending a couple of Doctors. Having some training in Miami in aesthetic procedures myself, I can vouch for the high level of quality and service of one in particular. Email me or INBOX me for more information.

Best wishes,

I think you should make an appointment with Dr. Santiago if you would like to be referred by him. This is a professional service. All good doctors have networks of specialists and I prefer to have my primary care doctor involved in any surgical work. He then knows about the surgical team and hospital, and can provide good follow-up care.

Do understand the dangers and uncomfortableness of recovering from drugs to put you out to do your facelift. Make sure you understand at our older age that these drugs are more dangerous than for younger folks. Do the research yourself because I don't think they tell folks all the facts about facelifts. I do know not everybody reacts the same but ask questions so you are prepared if some bad side effects occur after the operation. Not sure ones vanity is worth the possibility of problems but that me.

This is correct. I like to work as I did in the U.S. since as a PCP we were often involved in the follow up care and management.

Any good surgeon will also ask his/her patient for a complete medical history and medical work-up before any surgery. This is such a crucial part of the success of any surgery. So, even if you do not use a surgeon(s) or other specialist that I refer you to, it would be a good idea to visit your PCP before you see the specialist.

I realize that is not how the manner how many doctors practice here but if I were to have anybody in my family undergo any surgical procedure, I'd insist on a complete medical workup prior to the surgery from his/her PCP.

I can be contacted via my email: Chapalamed@gmail.com

And I will be happy to answer any further questions that anybody may have.

I wish you all the best of health, always.

I have had several surgeries in Guadalajara. Each time the specialist that was doing the surgery insisted on initial testing prior to surgery, i.e., x-ray of lungs, cardiac work-up, blood work, testing for coagulation of blood, etc. However, never once did the primary care doctor that we were using at the time require or order these type of tests themselves. Before I became educated about how necessary these types of tests were ... one very well known and loved primary care physician here and his preferred surgeon removed my gallbladder ... without any prior testing at all.

The one and only time that I took the recommendation of a PCP here at Lakeside and used a plastic surgeon that he "highly recommended" it was a complete disaster that I will pay for the rest of my life. I later found out that he did not even know the surgeons that operated on me ... he just called around and came up with their names. After 2 years of healing and much discomfort, the disaster was finally repaired as much as is possible by a plastic surgeon that specializes in reconstruction.

I have learned the hard way to thoroughly check out the specialist that is going to operate on me. I made appointments with 7 plastic surgeons/listened to their recommendations/checked them all out as much as possible/obtained recommendations from their patients, etc. before finally deciding on the reconstruction specialist that I used. Unless we have an emergency situation that will not allow time for research this is what I would do for any surgery now ... you would be surprised how much you can learn and maybe avoid a really bad situation.

Jeznel, I chose Dr. Victor Alejandro Rodriguez Aceves, Justo Sierra 2447, Guadalajara, his clinic is Plasma Cirujanos, Tel. 3615

9259 or 3630 0266 and his cell is 044 333 191 4221. When I made the appointment with him I did it using his cell because I could not speak enough Spanish to communicate with the front desk. Dr. Rodriguez speaks very good English. I picked him for many reasons: My infectious disease doctor (whom I attribute with saving my life) recommended him; then, my husband's Cardiologist also knew Dr. Rodriguez and recommended him highly. Then I had an initial interview with him, talked to some of his patients. He was very clear with me about what could and could not be done, did not beat around the bush but on the other hand did not just say things very bluntly. He was gentle in his speech and gentle in his manner. He was honest and caring and concerned about my future health.... not just fixing this problem for a while for me to have to come back to him with more problems. The surgery was complicated and I won't go into all the different choices that I had been given by others that would not have been great for the future. If you use him, I am sure you will be more than pleased. If not I hope you find someone as skilled and as compassionate.

Luke made the same choice I did several years ago. Dr. Aceves is outstanding. He was recommended to me on first hand knowledge by a highly respected woman physician. I have been delighted by the results and intend to consult him again in another couple of years.

I found this site by doing a google search and then joined. I see this thread is from last year, so I'm hoping no one will mind if I post here as my question relates to plastic surgery. I am visiting in Mexico from the Pacific Northwest. I'm looking into the possibility of having some cosmetic surgery done here at a future date. I guess you could say this is a "fact-finding" mission. I too was curious about the Reevert Clinic (which is how I found this site) but then I saw that 2 people posted about their good experiences with the Guadalajara surgeon Dr. Victor Alejandro Rodriguez Aceves. Has anyone else been a patient of his? And if so, could you share any information about your experience, by messaging me, or here on the board if you prefer. Could the 2 previous posters perhaps share some details about their procedures, either privately or here, such as, how long were your surgeries (in terms of time spent in the OR), what type of sedation was used, how long was the recuperation, were drainage tubes placed, how was your follow-up experience, which hospital did you select (if the procedure was done in a hospital), were you satisfied with the hospital? A lot of people in the US are flying to Mexico, especially Baja and Jalisco, for cosmetic procedures because it's so much cheaper. But it's difficult to know how to select the right doctor to ensure the best outcome. Thank you for your help and advice.

You will be more assured of receiving quality care if your surgeon is certified by the Consejo Mexicano de Cirugía Plástica. They have a website where you can verify their certification. And if they received their training at the Instituto Jaliscience de Cirugía Reconstructiva, the leading institute in the country.

One important issue to keep in mind, especially when having outpatient surgery is whether your surgeon has up to date resusitation equipment in their office and he/she and their staff are trained in resusitation technicques. . Plastic surgery is often considered by patients to be minor surgery, which it definitely is not, since it involves anesthesia. .

This is also true for patients that request anesthesia at their dentist's office as well . .

Please click on the link above. I have place a link to a patient with a FULL FACELIFT with images that were taken in my office on 3 days and 3 weeks after her surgery. As a doctor, I and one who does aesthetic medicine, the results are phenomenal and more than speak for themselves.

INBOX ME if you'd like results as superb as these.

Has anyone any comments to make about results from the local plastic surgeon in the Casa Montana?

I see "before" and "after" photos in advertisements in the local mag. (from any and all practitioners) and I always wonder why the "before" photo has a hangdog expression (unsmiling, pizzed off) whereas the "after" has the patient smiling brightly at the camera. Attitude adjustment free with any surgery??

Apart from the smiley face I have difficulty seeing the improvement!

Gringal, the doctor you are referring to is Dr. Benjamin Villaran and all the pictures on his website are actual people. I am sure that both are true, they are trying to put a better face on the person in the after shot to show that they are happy ... but I can tell you from experience that you are happier and brighter after surgery. As to Lakeside7 not seeing a difference in the before and afters ... that may be true about some of them but most of those pictures are a definite improvement.

I had a facelift in September with Dr. Villaran and I am still recovering but I am extremely happy with the results. You do not come out looking like you are pulled from ear to ear, you still look like yourself but refreshed and younger. My husband and friends say I look 10 years younger and I believe that also. It may not be for everyone but it has put an extra spring in my step and I am already enjoying the good outcome.

I did my homework before surgery. I asked to talk to some of those people in the pictures, and of course, some of them I had already seen around town. I saw and talked to 3 different women (one of which I just happened to meet at a local store one day before my surgery). When you see the befores of these women and the afters, you can definitely see the difference.

It is harder for me to see myself as others do, however, when I went in for a checkup and Dr. Villaran took a picture and showed me the before picture up next to the after it was simply amazing.

Anyone thinking about a facelift or other surgery with Dr. Villaran will be more than pleased to know that they are very open and willing for you to see and talk to their actual patients. Ann Dyer is wonderful and her staff is excellent. One of the women that had surgery before me, Ilene, is now working in the office with Ann and will be more than happy for you to see her pictures. Ann has a program that I availed myself of and was so glad I did. I went into her BnB the afternoon before surgery; had a private room with bath; was given a great massage that afternoon; fed an excellent supper; was given a calming medication for the evening; was picked up and taken to Guadalajara for surgery in a hospital; spent the night with a private nurse in the hospital; was driven back to the BnB the morning after surgery; spent the night with a 24 hour caregiver; the next morning they helped me shower and cleaned my stitches, fed me breakfast and made sure I was feeling like returning home that day. Dr. Villeran saw me right after surgery, the night after the surgery, the morning after surgery in the hospital, the day after surgery at the BnB and every Wednesday and Sunday since surgery. He has been on top of everything to do with the healing.

As you can see, I can't say enough about them and you will find the same with anyone that you talk to that has used them.

Friends had couples plastic surgery with Dr. Villaran and was absolutely AMAZED at the result. He was careful to make them natural and younger enough to look just awesome.
