RVGRINGO Posted January 25, 2013 Report Share Posted January 25, 2013 Just follow the big green signs: Chapala Guadalajara Mexico Lagos de Moreno San Luis Potosi Matahuela Ciudad Victoria Matamoros Turn when you see the sign for the next city. Brownsville is accross the border from Matamoros. An alternate route, which may be better: Capala Guadalajara Mexico Lagos de Moreno San Luis Potosi Matahuela Ciudad Victoria Matamoros Reynosa Pharr International Bridge, then go east to Brownsville in Texas. RVGRINGO Posted March 19, 2013 Report Share Posted March 19, 2013 The roads are much better now than when we used to drive that route. These days, I would cross the border at the Pharr crossing, near McAllen, TX and then drive east to Brownsville. Otherwise, just follow 101 to Brownsvill from Cd. Victoria. The trip could be done in one long day of about 11-12 hours, I suspect. It used to take up to 14 hours with lunch stops, etc. That said, I have not traveled north since 2006, so the improvements are what I hear from others.
