bennie
there are 2 brands from mexico. they come in large plastic jugs. "alpura" & "lejaim" superlake has them. if he is out, then check torittos, they get them. make sure it says sin azure, (no sugar). there are no chemicals, additives etc. only the real sour tasting yogart. bennie
there is another mexican brand which comes in a large container, & is about 10 pesos less. (they have it in small grocery stores) but it seems to have a strange smell. stay w/the alpura/lejaim.
kindred
Here's a trick for you if you like the texture of "Greek Yogurt" which I personally do. Buy the Alpura sin azucar and then using a strainer with a coffee filter inserted, over a larger bowl, pour in the Alpura and let it sit in fridge overnight -- there will be a watery liquid in the bottom of the bowl and the strainer will have in the coffee filter the thicker Greek texture yogurt. I then use the water liquid in smoothies and the Greek yogurt with fruit, etc. -- a little agave nectar and a delicious and healthy treat.
Irish Gal
Every week we buy natural yogurt without any sugar or sweetener at Prasad's health food store on the lateral road before you get to Telmex in Ajijic. I have used this to make Greek yogurt.
