USA Car Rental for Expats

If you live outside and travel to the U.S., they can really stick you on the car rental costs when you add the LDW and liability insurance.

There are less known sites offering insurance and rental in one package for foreigners. Here's one that's worked well for me:

You must be resident outside of the U.S. and use a foreign driver's license.

I notice they state you cannot be a US or Canadian citizen and they require a valid ID AND a foreign driver's license. It almost sounds like you need a foreign license and a foreign passport. Can you confirm that all you needed to show was the foreign license?

Thanks

For the week of December 10-16, we rented a Dodge Avenger through Enterprise at the Miami airport. The total cost of the rental was $137.06, including unlimited mileage. Our insurance cost for the week was $24.95, through American Express. The Miami price on the linked website seems really expensive to us.

My wife showed her Mexican driver's license.
