cedros
Has anyone tried the Haciendo del Lago restaurant on Privado Ocampo (advertised on the last page of the current Guadalajara Reporter)? If so how was it?
Mainecoons
As I understand it, this is a botique B&B that doubles as a restaurant and the chef there is Eric of Hole In One fame. He certainly put out some fine cuisine when he was there.
ajijicbound
Excellent! Here is their website http://www.haciendadellagoajijic.com/
Carnivore
Go to the "Restaurant and Bistro Happenings" site on Chapala.com and you'll find a good overview of the restaurant. Also go to "search" at the top of this page and type in the name of the establishment for recent reviews.
Carnivore
To: Cedros......Go to October 23rd entry on this website where you'll find reviews on Hacienda del Lago. For some reason it doesn't come up when you try "search".
cedros
I can't find reviews for this restaurant by doing the search or looking on October 23rd. Does anyone see it?
cedros
Oops found it on October 20th but there aren't any reivews of the food there.
artsnob
It is very expensive, so probably alot of people won't be going until some reviews about how good it is, I know my group is waiting..
HelperGuy
A gourmet friend of mine says it was just excellent, every step of the way. I trust his judgment completely when it comes to food. Of course, it is usually tempered with a snifter or two.
ajijicbound
This was the best dining experience I have had in Ajijic.
cedros
I haven't made it there yet. I want to go for lunch there but their website shows the menu for Nov 12th to 17th only-nothing for this week.
Haciendadellago
Because we were closed Monday and Tuesday and we are only serving Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday we are keeping the same menu this week. I will make that date change on the website right now so it's more clear.
Carnivore
The confusion continues between the use of "La Cocina" and "Restaurant and Bistro Happenings".....however, any comments about excessive pricing relating to this new and most welcome restaurant are totally off in left field. Does anyone actually remember how much we wanted a "higher end" restaurant in Ajijic...not a night club with music so loud that you couldn't pleasantly dine. If you've been here a while perhaps you've lost sight of what good dining in an above average surrounding is worth. After what we've experienced thus far, quiet, congenial dining with the ability to actually converse with friends while enjoying an "above average" dining experience makes this restaurant a welcome change. cedros
I tried out this new restaurant for lunch. Nice setting. The food was good. Small portions. Service was good but slow. A lot of mosquitos. Pricey. I probably won't go back.

kindred
Great reviews on restaurante -- but how about the "search" function on this website -- seems in need of updating so we can actually use it as a good resource for living Lakeside -- Moderator???? Joyfull
I received their Christmas dinner menu via email. Looks lovely if you don't mind paying 1000 pesos per person. Personally, I don't think ANY dinner is worth that much $$$
hairysilver
Did anyone pop for their expensive Christmas dinner? if so how was it? I wonder how much it will be for New Years, Maybe they will throw in a room for the night...
Wheels
it is excellent. We were there for dinner, 3 course for 180 pesos per person. You cannot ask for better ambiance and the food was exquisite. If you want a real special place to go, this is it.
artsnob
We will probably have to mortgage the casa to go there for New Years Eve!!
Canamex
The usual lunch or dinner time fare has been excellent in our experience and not overly expensive. Christmas dinner was 1,000 p a pop, minus drinks and was ok, not super.
