Would like to know about the savory and sweet bakery delights that exist in Ajijic, the surrounding areas and Guadalajara.

Please share the specialties you look forward to ordering or picking up at various eateries. Would be great to know the approximate cost too.

Would also like to know about your bread choices ...

do they sell fresh sour dough loafs, or french bread or baguettes to take home?

Muchas Gracias.

There are two excellent bakeries in Guadalajara, El Globo. It was begun by some people from Alsace (or so I've been told). They not only have European style bread, but all kinds of tortes and other European sweets.

Also Neufeld's Bakery was begun by two brothers whose grandparents came from Germany. They use the best butter, cream and other ingredients for their cakes. Helmut and I had our wedding cake made there and it was outstanding. This would be called a Konditorei in Germany (cake and sweets shop).

And for truly wonderful sourdough bread, 7 grain, sprouted flax, raisin and more, come to the Tuesday morning Farmer's Market at La Huerta Eventos in west Ajijic. There are also a wealth of intragral sweet and savory delights. Bread is 45 to 60 pesos. Real English muffins 5 pesos, other items mostly from 5 to 10 pesos and even healthy. HMMMM
