Bisbee Gal
El Figon on Calle Constitucion in Ajijic is a repository of Mexican micro-brewed bottled beers. Those who think all Mexican beers are tame and light, will be pleasantly surprised by the wide range of brews and the Mexican locales where they are brewed. You can spend a pleasant evening at El Figon and take a yeasty tour of Mexico at the same time. There are at least 15 cold beers available most nights. Porters, stouts, IPAs, weizens (wheat)...they're all available. Last night we enjoyed: a Mexicali Dark; a TJ (Tijuana) Moreno; an amber beer from Queretero and a Perro Negro (black dog, I think from Guadalajara). Free baskets of popcorn accompany the beers. The food here is also quite good; we often make a meal of varied appetizers, such as goat cheese/tomato/basil bruschetta; shrimp tostadas; stuffed (yet mild) jalapenos; veggie omelet; serrano ham sandwiches; and probably the best shrimp burger in town. We've eaten main courses here as well and highly recommend any of the shimp dishes, particularly the pasilla shrimp. The ribs are also quite good. They've added a few salads recently; the shrimp salad is 65p and the shrimp were beatifully cooked. Prices are very reasonable (most appetizers are 30-50 pesos; most full dinners are 100-120 pesos); service is friendly. The young couple who own El Figon are the cooks and the waitstaff. Their young daughter is often there doing her homework, and you are greeted by the family dog and cat, as well. They have expanded their seating out back into a patio/garden area. They are open Tuesday through Saturday, from 1PM till 10PM.

Mainecoons
Decided to try it tonight. Not really impressed with the beers or the beer prices. Believe me, I've had some of the best both in the U.S. and Europe, really wasn't close. Music was so loud we decided to eat elsewhere.
Travis
El Figon is great. The people, the food, and what they're trying to build. Thanks for the reminder!
