My hubby and I did last week and it was FABULOUS! Ate twice as much as I should have and wasn't hungry until the following night. If you like middle eastern food you won't be disappointed. We ordered the Platter #2 and it was more than enough for 2 people.

We went yesterday and it was scrumptious! Love the way he's decorated, nice menu, generous portions, fair prices, excellent service...What more could we have asked for?

Will be back!

Two more happy eaters!

The food was excellent (it's a huge menu) and service was very friendly and fast.

We tried the chicken shawerma sandwich (40 pesos); and the kibbeh main course and chose fried eggplant and babaganouj as the side dishes (80p). Lemonade is 20p and agua mineral is 15p. Lots of good food for only 155 pesos!!

I don't know anything about Egyptian food but I would love to check it out. The only problem I MIGHT have is that I have celiac disease which means that I am on a gluten free diet. Can anyone, who has eaten there and who is also familiar with gluten free, tell me if there would be something on the menu that I could eat? I usually fall back on a salad if there doesn't appear to be anything GF on the menu but as I have mentioned: I don't know the first thing about Egyptian cuisine; for instance could I find a salad there?

For the person inquiring about celiac issues, his Fatoush Salad is excellent, just request that he leave off the toasted pita chips which he mixes in as a granish. You can eat the humous with out pita bread, which is served on the side. It is very good eaten with the Fatoush salad as well. The tabouli salad has bulgar wheat so would not be a good idea. He is very helpful, you will find something.Chicken dishes are great as is babaganouch and mamaganoush, which are mashd egg plant and squash respctively, roasted and mixed with spices.

Miss them since their move from Riberas, but they now will get the business they deserve in the Village.

My 'Father's Day Lunch' was at the Cairo Cafe and we enjoyed the Platter #2, as usual. Absolutely delicious!

Middle Easter food is hard to beat and I only wish I could eat there several times a week. Wael has done a fine job with his new location in Ajijic; even though we now have to drive from Chapala. The old Riberas del Pilar location was much closer to us.

Yes, it's still open and serving Wael's great food. Sorry to hear he wishes to sell it but he's open at 1 pm each day BUT Wed. and Thurs. I'm not sure what time he closes but we all better get our fill of this good food before he sells....

Valerie :)
