And even more info: today I took my Mom to Estetika Uvik, in Riberas across from Toscana Pizza. She's 83 now, can barely walk, and hated the idea of using somebody new, but her gal Yoli (not the Yoli at Bugambilias) is over in Europe, so she said she'd take a chance and at least get a cut. Lupita, the owner, talked her into a perm, and by god she's now got the best looking hairdo I've seen on her since I was a little kid. $400 pesos. 765-4290

She's so tickled; I'll be wheeling her into the musical tonight at the Little Theatre, and she knows she's gonna look good.

Anyone have a suggestion as to who to go to for highlighting long hair with a grungy gray streak? (not James Don)

i would suggest Lulu at Blue Moon Salon in Laguna Mall (opposite Walmart next to the Casino). I have unruly blonde hair and she has been doing my highlights, trims and treatments regularly since July. She is excellent. I'm very fussy with the colours and I'm very happy with Lulu.

I tried another mentioned in this thread and I was far from happy. The colour I ended up with was old-fashioned and made me look 10 years older.

Lulu is Mexican but trained and worked in Canada for quite a few years before coming here and setting up her salon. She is up to date with the latest products and techniques. She also offers OPI manicures/pedicures, massage, waxing etc. You get a nice discount if you get 2 or more services.

Also, if you're like me and never remember to make advance appointments, Lulu will always try her hardest, working extra early or late, to get you in within the week.

Good luck!

Thanks for the "grungy gray streak" suggestions. Any time I've been in a hairdressing salon (rarely), the first thing they do is start waving the scissors and suggesting a haircut.

No thanks. Long, straight, thick, baby fine hair is easier to handle on a daily basis if you don't mind looking like something out of the Victorian age. Since that's fine by me, the grungy streak gone would be excellent.

I did not have any luck with Lulu. I have short, blonde-silver hair and she told me I looked "washed-out" and needed low-lights. I wasn't too happy but told her to go ahead. I came out a very dirty blonde and looked terrible. Everyone hated it and loved my natural hair color. I have been blonde since birth, so brown was awful. Never went back and am now back to my real color.

I also stopped going to The Blue Moon...last haircut there in the middle of October was a disaster.

I LOVE Jim at Gloriosa...he listens (a really nice trait in a guy!).

Colour? no way! I stopped putting chemicals close to my head nearly twenty years ago. Got white hair and earned every one of the little suckers. Colour me Proud!

I was disappointed with my haircut at Blue Moon, I don't remember the name of the stylist, but I doubt that she was trained in Canada.

I knew she was cutting off a lot of hair, but too late I discovered that she was using a procedure called 'feathering'. It took months for the hair

to grow back to a more even length.

I now go to Sissi at New Look Studios. She gives me an excellent haircut.

I went to Sasha twice and liked her cut, but I don't do stairs too well so I changed to one without any stairs. If you can take her stairs, Sasha is also excellent.

I went there once.

I'll recomend to you " ESTETICA LUVIK " the name of the owner/hairdresser is Ma.Guadalupe Cardenas "Lupita".

She is at AV. HIDALGO # 68 Riveras del Pilar.

Very artistic and clean on what she does!

la buena vida, this is a VERY old post you're replying to. It was started in 2011 and the most recent comment was from March 2012. If you're looking for specific info about a particular hairstylist, you may have better luck starting a new thread.

who is the best beauty salon to go to for color and highlights. Is Edith very good for this.  Do they charge for each foil or is it one price.  Also was wondering about Christine's European spa does she color and highlight .  New to the area so unsure who to go to.

This thread was begun December 4, 2011! Why resurrect a five-year-old thread instead of starting a new one?
