MountainGal
There is a shop which sells artistic iron work from a factory in Guadalajara. Located west of Ajijic by a few miles on the south side of the carretera. Has a giant yellow bird cage out front. I went by last Friday, but it was closed with only the giant bird cage (suppose that always stays out). The sign is still on the building Does anyone know if this shop is still open? RVGRINGO
Perhaps you went by on Friday, 16 Sept., Mexican Independence Day.

rckrckr
Still open - I was in the shop on Saturday, the 24th. Very nice people and reasonable prices, IMHO.
lakeside101
i live out past there, so pass it frequently, at all times. i don't think they keep very regulr hours... hit or miss.
MountainGal
Thanks! Guess we'll try again. It's a bit of a drive from here just to go out there and turn-around, though. They do have some very unique items and we think they are most likely to have something like what we are looking for.
simpsca
Did anyone see iron towel bars? I'm looking for iron towel bar for my bathroom - not the standard flimsy things.
MountainGal
I don't recall if there were towel bars, but the will custom make anything you want.
CCC
They have a place in Tonala or Tlaquepaque (I forget which) that will custom make anything you want. The fellow on the cte has a catalogue of items and pictures as well. I usually see him open when I got by around noon but I don't really pay attention. I do love their stuff. simpsca
OK I'll check it our around noon tomorrow. I don't have a photo of what I want so that makes it difficult for me.
CCC
I used to have his card with his phone number on it but I can't find it now. I think I probably threw it away. If I find his number I will post it tonight.
JayBearII
If it's the fairly new (one year?) place on the south side of the carretera west of the new Pemex, I believe they are only open weekends, catering to the Guad squad, I presume. MountainGal
We went there today after noon. They were open! Found exactly what we were looking for at a great price. I didn't see if they have towel racks - there are a lot of unique items, and a good possibility they would have some.
RVGRINGO
For iron towel racks, simply draw or describe what you want to any of the local ironworkers and they'll make them for you.
camillenparadise
Is this place still open? I need a specialty cage built.....two male canaries who were raised together, but are now NOT getting along! Need a cage with a separation and a solid border at the bottom to save my one Oriental rug from a rain of seed hulls!

Travis
The iron-worker in San Antonio does birdcages also, I think. On the carretera, lakeside, …… stretching for landmarks…..between Panino's and what used to be Mail Boxes Etc., and is now the new location of iShop. Whew. mhopkins2
The iron works shop does good work. They built a 6' glass table & wrought iron chairs for me last month. BTW, Handy Mail is still in it's location. The new iSHOP is on the corner.
