El Troje, Mazamitla

We took our well traveled English visitor to see Mazamitla today and ate at El Troje as recommended by several here.

Mazamitla is absolutely charming and very clean and walkable. The new road is excellent and it was an easy trip.

Our amiga had a fish stew that included abalone among other things and which she declared "absolutely superb." Mi esposa y yo had "Trifajitas" with beef, chicken and shrimp. They were the best we've had since coming here, really first rate and served with perfectly heated tortillas.

Starters included crispy fresh heated tostadas and a very nice picante salsa.

The meal was served to perfection, the restaurant is spotless including the restrooms and very interesting in decor. We considered it a bargain, the three entres, three diet cokes and two Negro Modillos came to less than 500 pesos with the tip.

The restaurant is right on the edge of the "centro". At the edge of town, there's a stoplight/stop sign intersection, on the opposite side of it is a Pemex. The restaurant is a short block to the left at this intersection.

Highly recommended!
