slumdog
I have a friend driving into Mexico, via the U.S. from Canada, with Canadian car insurance that covers travel in the U.S., but doubtful that it extends into Mexico. This has just come up, so he'll have to call his company tomorrow, but can I ask a question: are there "border" companies that offer insurance for getting into Mexico, like there are when leaving Mexico? And does anyone have any quick advice?

RVGRINGO
Your friend will definitely need to purchase separate insurance for Mexico from an agent offering coverage by a Mexican underwriter. Yes, there are such agencies along the border, on the US side. Sanborn's may be the most obvious, but he can go online and search, "Mexican automobile insurance" or contact a local agent at his Mexican destination. Many will provide coverage and send the policy by fax or e-mail.

Responses are same day and cost very reasonable. Mine is $350 a year with most deductibles being $500 and car valued at 19,500. John
